Petrojet failed to cement their place at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table, as they played out a 1-1 at home with Ismaili on Monday. The Petroleum side would have gone two points clear on top if they had scored a victory, but the Dervishes prevented them from extending their winning streak. The hosts took the lead when Eric Bekoe converted a penalty kick four minutes past the half-hour mark, and Mohamed Mohsen Abou-Greisha leveled the score eight minutes from time. Petrojet, who beat Ittihad and Zamalek in their first two league games, are now leaders on goal difference with seven points, while defending champions Ahli come second with as many points. Ismail, who are yet to register their maiden victory this season, are languishing in 14th place. Superior Petrojet were by far superior in the early minutes of the game, which was Ismaili's first under the management of Emad Soliman, following the departure of Serbian tactician Nebojsa Vuckovic. Amr Hassan darted from the right wing to penetrate Ismaili's area where he was tackled by Ahmed Abou-Mosallam, and the referee immediately pointed at the spot. Mokhtar Mokhtar's men kept the upper hand after the opener, but couldn't maintain their superiority after the break. Subsequently, Ismaili started in the second half to threat the home side, who in return tried to be dangerous on the counter attack. Petrojet were dumbstruck by Abou-Greisha's surprising goal, when the international marksman headed into the net with the target behind his back.
