Zamalek's new signings have quickly proved their worth after a 3-1 victory over ENPPI, chairman Mamdouh Abbas said. The Cairo giants kicked off their Egyptian Premier League campaign in style, overcoming ENPPI 3-1 after producing a ruthless attacking display. The team's starting line-up included several new faces such as midfielder Hassan Mostafa, left-back Mohamed Abdul-Shafi and striker Ahmed Gaafar. "The new players played very well. They showed that they were good enough to join Zamalek," Abbas told the club's official website. "I'm sure they will be able to live up to expectations and will be valuable additions to Zamalek squad." Wealthy businessman Abbas, who was elected as the club's chairman in May, spent big in the close season to recruit some high-profile players. Zamalek signed energetic midfielder Mostafa after his contract with Ahli expired, promising Ghanaian Ibrahim Ayew and Middlesbrough marksman Mido, who joined on a season-long loan. The White Knights are looking to win their first league title since 2004.
