Portsmouth have loaned French international striker Frederic Piquionne for one season from Lyon, the Premier League club said. Pompey, who are set to be bought by Arab tycoon Soliman Al-Fahim, have an option to buy Piquionne permanently for €4.5million next summer. The Premier League club opted for the giant hitman after they failed to agree a deal with Egypt and Zamalek striker Amr Zaki. Zaki is now set to stay with Zamalek, even so his agent Nader Shawki said he still has hope of securing a European move before the end of August. However, Shawky admitted that it would be 'very difficult' for the ex-Wigan forward to return to England if he completed the season in Cairo.
