Ahli captain Shadi Mohamed is set to leave after ten years with the club, whereas Emad Al-Nahhas has been also released, the Egyptian champions said on Thursday. The 32-year-old Shadi is looking for a new challenge and thus requested to be given a free transfer, ahead of his contract expiry by the end of this year. "The Ahli board have accepted Shadi Mohamed's request to make a move to a Gulf club," a statement on the club's official site read.
Al-Nahhas released "With respect to Shadi's fidelity and commitment, the player has been released without any conditions or financial compensations." Shadi joined Ahli from Koroum in 1999 and has progressively become an indispensible member of the Red Devils' backline. The Egypt international defender won four CAF Champions League titles with ex-coach Manuel Jose, in addition to five league triumphs.
