Preview: Telecom's survival hope lies in Ittihad's hands
Published in FilGoal on 21 - 05 - 2009

Telecom Egypt's only hope of maintaining their Premier League status will be if they beat Asyut Petroleum and fellow strugglers Ghazl Mahalla draw with or lose to Ittihad.
The two games will be taking place in the Egyptian Premier League final round on Thursday, where Telecom will travel to Asyut and Mahalla will host Ittihad.
Hossam Hassan's men are in 14th position with 29 points, one less than Mahalla, who are 13th. Asyut already guaranteed Premier League survival with 33 points in 12th place.
Since Hassan took over the club in early March, Telecom lost three times against ENPPI, Ahli and Ismaili, drew twice and won two games.
Mahalla on the other hand, will have an easier task on their hands when they take on Ittihad.
The Alexandrians are ninth with 37 points and they don't have much to play for.

Ittihad
Coach Taha Basri has already given Ahmed Ali, Khamis Gaafar and Farag Shalabi permission to start their off-season holiday ahead of their teammates.
Mahmoud Sobhi, Abdul-Hamid Hassan and Mahmoud Shaker are also unavailable to face Mahalla due to suspension.
Telecom will be given the head to head advantage and stay in the Premier League if they finish level on points with Mahalla.
The two teams draw 0-0 after Telecom won the first term's tie 3-1.
Tersana and Olympic are both officially relegated as they have 24 and 23 points in 15th and 16th place respectively.
