The UEFA Control and Disciplinary body rejected the appeals made by Barcelona and Manchester United against the suspensions of their respective players from the Champions League final. Barcelona lodged an appeal against the bans of Eric Abidal and Daniel Alves, who were sent off and cautioned respectively in the semi-final tie at Chelsea. On the other hand, United protested against Darren Fletcher's red card in the 3-1 win at Arsenal last week. European football governing body UEFA stressed that there is no room for overturning the suspension decisions and thus the trio will miss the game. Barca will face United in an epic final in Rome on May 27th as they both close in on clinching domestic titles.
