Ahli midfielder Ahmed Hassan felt he had the energy to carry on until the final whistle during his side's victory over Sfaxien in the African Super Cup. The Red Devils claimed a record fourth Super Cup title after defeating Tunisia's Sfaxien 2-1 at Cairo Stadium on Friday. Veteran midfielder Hassan was included in the starting line up and was given an advanced role to support lone striker Flavio Amado, who scored Ahli's goals. But he was substituted with 14 minutes remaining, making way for striker Ahmed Hassan Farag. "I was unhappy to be replaced because I played well and had the energy to remain on the pitch until the match's end," Hassan told Arab Radio and Television (ART) after the game. "But I fully respect the technical staff's opinion and I'm very happy that Ahli won the trophy. "I came here to win titles and Ahli are granting me my wishes," the Egypt skipper added. Hassan joined Ahli last summer after his contract with Belgian giants Anderlecht expired. He won the Egyptian Super Cup, the CAF Champions League and the African Super Cup during a six-month spell. But reports suggested he wanted to leave Ahli after growing increasingly frustrated at being frequently substituted by Portuguese coach Manuel Jose.
