Middlesbrough suffered a 3-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage to extend their winless streak to six matches in the Premiership. Midfielder Jimmy Bullard put the visitors in front four minutes before the interval. Danny Murphy converted a 54th-minute penalty to double Fulham's advantage. Clint Dempsey wrapped up the win five minutes later. The defeat leaves Middlesbrough in 13th place of the league table with 20 points, four behind eighth-placed Fulham. Egypt midfielder Mohamed Shawky was included in Gareth Southgate's starting line-up for the first time in eight games after recovering from injury. The former Ahli man, who played full 90 minutes, tried his luck from distance in the 42nd minute but his effort went wide of the post. Shawky's compatriot Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido' started on the bench before being introduced in the second half instead of Julio Arca. However, the towering striker posed no threat to Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer.
