Asyut Petroleum coach Mohamed Amer said his team managed to register a victory over Zamalek because they didn't underestimate the White Knights, despite their winless run. The home side romped to a 2-0 Egyptian League win on Friday over the Cairo giants, who have been suffering recurring losses for more than a month. "We didn't take Zamalek lightly. They have a great history and we dealt with them accordingly," Amer stated during the post-match press conference. "My team put in a good performance and deserved to win the game. We were in dire need of those three points." The tactician promised that his outfit will further improve in the upcoming games, saying so many chances were wasted during the match. Having won the game, the Petroleum side advanced to the 13th place with 16 points.
Zamalek close to relegation zone Unjustifiable On the other hand, Zamalek assistant coach Momen Soliman conceded that the opposition secured a well-deserved win. He also pounded away at his players, blaming them for the embarrassing defeat. "They eased off while our opponents produced a good display, so a 2-0 loss sounds a logical result," he said. Crisis-hit Zamalek, whose last league win was in October, are seventh in the league table with 18 points, just three above the relegation zone. "There is absolutely no excuse for Friday's defeat" he elaborated. "We squandered four clear-cut opportunities in the first half, and Mohamed failed to convert a penalty-kick when we were one goal behind, but the result remains unjustifiable."
