Zenit St. Petersburg striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is close to signing for Bayern Munich from the UEFA Cup champions, the player's agent revealed. The German giants have earlier announced a desire to lure the Russia striker, who will be a perfect replacement for Lukas Podolski as the latter is set to leave the club in January after becoming disillusioned with life at the Bayern bench. "Pogrebnyak wants to play for Bayern as he is very keen to play in the UEFA Champions League," agent Oleg Artemov told Bild. Pogrebnyak is the latest Zenit player Bayern shows interest in, after coach Jurgen Klinsmann said he'd also love to sign midfielder Anatoly Tymoschuk and forward Andrei Arshavin. Bayern's interest in the Russian trio started when they excelled for Zenit during the team's 5-1 aggregate win over the German champions in last season's UEFA Cup semi-final.
