Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce said that striker Amr Zaki didn't have the best of games against Middlesbrough on Saturday because of injury. The former Zamalek ace had to be replaced on the game's 80th minute after failing to cope with a calf problem. “Zaki has unbelievably high standards but hasn't trained all week because he got a kick on the calf,” Bruce was quoted as saying by The Mirror on Monday. “In a competition like the Premiership, you can't perform at your top level unless you're 100% fit.” Despite the injury, Zaki was called up by Egypt coach Hassan Shehata for The Pharaohs' final second phase qualifier against Djibouti on October 12th. Since his summer loan move to Wigan, the 25-year-old has set the Premiership alight topping the league's goal scorers list with five games so far.
