Egypt striker Amr Zaki has left Wigan Athletic and returned to Cairo one week before the official end of his loan contract with the Premiership club. Zaki was on a one-season loan at Wigan from Zamalek, but a knee injury will prevent him from playing in the Latics' final game of the season against Portsmouth. The player's personal advisor Mohamed Saied confirmed that Zaki returned to Cairo in order to resume his rehabilitation program ahead of Egypt's friendly against Oman on May 30th. The 26-year-old's return comes one day after Wigan manager Steve Bruce announced that the club have no intention of offering the striker a permanent deal. Despite his strong start at the JJB stadium, where he scored ten goals in the league's first term, Zaki's relation with the club board and Bruce recently deteriorated. A massive drop in the player's form as well as failing to return on time from international duty shook the club's confidence in his abilities. Watch Zaki's goals with Wigan
