Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez was delighted with the general outcome of his team's 3-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on October 1st. After beating Marseille in the competition's first round, Liverpool maintained their 100% start by beating PSV at Anfield thanks to goals from Dirk Kuyt, Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard. “It was almost a perfect night. A clean sheet would have made it better but I am really pleased,” Benitez told Liverpool's official website. “It was a good day. There were lots of positive things. The team continues to win, we were solid and had good balance and that is what you need to win. Liverpool's solid win was crowned with Robbie Keane's first goal for the club as well as Steven Gerrard's 100th goal for The Reds. “Robbie has been working so hard that he deserved to score. Now it is a question of when he will score in the Premier League, but at least he has scored for us and he will feel good.” “Gerrard is one of the best offensive midfielders in the world and hopefully he will go on to score many for us in the future.” “100 goals is always a very good figure, but it is especially good for a midfielder,” added the Spaniard. The win left Liverpool joint leaders of group D alongside Atletico Madrid before the two teams clash on October 22nd.
