Mido needs stability, says Southgate
Published in FilGoal on 28 - 08 - 2008

Middlesbrough coach Gareth Southgate believes Mido needs to have stability rather than switching clubs as the Egyptian nears a move to Wigan Athletic.
FilGoal.com understands that Wigan have tabled an official bid to acquire the services of Mido, who got off his season to a blistering start with Boro.
But Southgate thinks the 25-year-old should stay put if he is to enjoy his footballing career.
"It's time he had a more settled period in his career and was at a club for a bit longer," he told Middlesbrough's official website on Thursday.
"If that period takes us where I think it can, I think he will enjoy it."
Mido, who scored three goals in as many games this season, played for eight different clubs in seven years.
He began his career with Cairo giants Zamalek before having spells with the likes of Ajax Amsterdam, Celta Vigo, AS Roma and Marseille.
Firs-team Football

Mido may accept moving to Wigan to get more first-team football. The Egypt striker will link up with fellow countryman Amr Zaki if he completes a move to the Latics.
"His attitude to not starting at the moment has been first class. He's had a big impact for us from the bench and he's pushing hard to be in the starting line-up," Southgate said.
"I've said to him, I want him to be part of this football club. I understand that he wants to play and he will be causing me headaches in terms of selection.
"Mido enjoys it here but he wants to play regularly. He's a big crowd favorite, despite all the problems he had last season, because he's a good footballer."
Mido was restricted to limited appearances in his first season at the Riverside after being hit by a string of injuries.
With Southgate failing to assure Mido that he will have more regular football, the player might be tempted by a switch to the JJB stadium.
According to the former Tottenham Hotspur man, Wigan coach Steve Bruce is keen on landing him to strengthen his frontline.
