German veteran midfielder Bernd Schneider has been ruled out of next summer's Euro 2008 after undergoing a back surgery on Friday. The 34-year old player suffered from a slipped disc that will keep him out of action for the next four months. “It's tragic and a severe setback for the national team” said Bayer Leverkusen sports director Rudi Voller. The Mannschaft boss Joachim Low is facing a big blow in midfielder as Werder Bremen captain Torsten Frings has been struggling over the past year with knee injuries and hasn't fully recovered yet. Germany will battle against Croatia, Austria and Poland in the Euro.
