Egyptian striker Mido was sent-off ten minutes after his introduction late in the second half as Middlesbrough held Arsenal to a 1-1 away draw in the Premiership on Saturday. Mido replaced French striker Jeremie Aliadiere in the 78th minute but was given his marching orders two minutes from time after his boot caught Gael Clichy's head. Although the 25-year-old's challenge was clearly unintentional, he received a straight red card. Middlesbrough led through Aliadiere's first-half strike but Ivorian defender Kolo Toure salvaged a draw for Arsenal four minutes before the final whistle. Arsenal surrendered top spot to Manchester United, who defeated Derby County 1-0 earlier in the day. Both sides have 67 points but United lead due to superior goal difference. The Red Devils also have a game in hand. Aliadiere stunned the home crowd in the 25th minute when he precisely converted Tuncay Sanli's pinpoint cross from close range. Turkish striker Tuncay sprung the offside trap in the build-up after a lapse of concentration from Arsenal defenders. The Gunners were unimpressive despite dominating possession for long periods. They rarely tested Middlesbrough keeper Mark Schwarzer in the first-half. Arsenal were livelier in the second period and managed to secure a share of spoils late in the game. Toure connected with a right-wing corner to head home from close range despite being surrounded by a host of defenders.
