Angola coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves believes his side deserved victory in the wake of Monday's 2-1 defeat to Egypt in the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations. The Portuguese-born manager said that African champions Egypt were lucky to secure a semi-finals spot ahead of his 'young' team. Egypt needed a winning goal from in-form striker Amr Zaki to seal the win, after Manucho hit a wonder striker to cancel out Hosni Abd-Rabou's penalty. "Normally in football the best team wins, but today it was the opposite," Goncalves was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Egypt were lucky, we created more chances, but weren't able to convert them. "But my players shouldn't have any shame, Egypt are a good, experienced team, and my side are young." Goncalves led the Palancas Negras to the last eight for the first time ever, as he also took them to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
