Save Italian football, cries Kaka
Published in FilGoal on 13 - 11 - 2007

AC Milan playmaker Kaka believes that Calcio could 'die' if officials do not take tough action against repeated violence hitting Italian football.
"Italian football is losing credibility, we need to take action immediately or the sport could die," Kaka told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Italy has been rocked by riots after a Lazio fan was accidentally shot dead by police during a brawl with Juventus fans in Tuscany on Sunday.
The crisis mounted as angry fans in Rome, Milan, Bergamo and Siena rioted in protest to the death of 26-year-old Gabriele Sandri.
"First Calciopoli, then the police officer killed in Catania, and now this new tragedy. A fan killed while he was going to see a game," Kaka said.
"All these acts risk distancing the top players from our Serie A."
A police officer was killed during a raw between Catania and Palermo in the Sicily derby nine months ago, while the infamous Calciopoli match-fixing scandal in 2006 was definitely another black stain.
Civil war
Kaka's Milan teammate Clarence Seedorf also slammed the state of unrest surrounding the game in Italy and damaging the reputation of Serie A.
Seedorf, who has been in Italy since 2000 and also represented Inter Milan, described the tense rivalry between clubs as a 'civil war'.
"It's just like a civil war here," the Dutch international said.
"It's an incredible situation and we're in the middle of it even though we have no responsibility. This is nothing to do with football."
