Inter Milan opened a five-point lead at the top of the Serie A table after securing a 1-0 victory at Reggina in the eighth matchday of the competition on Saturday. The only goal of the game came from the out-of-form Brazilian striker Adriano, who scored his first Serie A goal in six months. Adriano converted in Luis Figo's 18th minute free kick to bag the three points for the Nerazzurri, who are now on a four-match winning streak. The Italian champions are unbeaten at the top with 20 points, five ahead of Roma, who jumped to second temporarily on 15, after the capital side sacrificed two precious points. At the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Roma and Napoli shared the points in an eight-goal thriller, where the home side gave up the lead three times. Ezeqiel Lavezzi put Napoli in front after just two minutes, but Francesco Totti leveled the scoring with a 30th minute penalty, before Simone Perrotta made it 2-1 for the Giallorossi four before the break. One minute after the restart, Marek Hamsik equalized for Napoli, but Daniele De Rossi swiftly restored Roma's lead six minutes later. The rally continued as Uruguayan midfielder Walter Gargano grabbed another equalizer for the visitors after 64 minutes. Ten minutes from time, David Pizarro thought he had won the game for Roma, but his late strike was cancelled out by four minutes later by Marcelo Zalayeta, who ensured his side's determination to get something out of the thriller.
