Juventus skipper Alessandro Del Piero scored just before the break to give his club a 1-0 victory over Reggina in the Serie A on Sunday. The veteran striker marked a party set by the club to celebrate Del Piero's new record as Stadio Delle Alpi's all-time top scorer with 186 goals including Sunday's winner. Del Piero latched on to David Trezeguet's through pass an unleashed a powerful finish past the goalkeeper. The victory tightened Juve's grip on the summit with 52 points, 10 ahead of Inter Milan who moved up to second after a hard-fought 3-2 win Cagliari. Brazilian star Adriano scored twice for the home side while Obafemi Martins added the third. Mauro Esposito and David Suazo were on the score sheet for Cagliari. Nigeria striker Martins opened the score after ten minutes when he raced down the left, outpacing all Cagliari's defenders before he arrowed the ball home.
Adriano Adriano doubled the lead five minutes later with an easy tap-in after being fed by a neat cross from Inter captain Javier Zanetti. In the 20th minute, Suazo fought his way past Zanetti and squared the ball for Esposito who brought his team back to the game with a low drive past Inter keeper Julio Cesar. Adriano found the net again in the 58th minute from a controversial spot-kick that was awarded to Inter after the Brazilian himself fell into the area. The television replay proved that Adriano wasn't fouled by any of Cagliari's defenders who challenged him for the ball. Suazo turned scorer to close the gap just nine minutes from time as he stepped up to deliver a free-kick from the edge of the area. His shot hit Walter Samuel and changed directions to go home.
