Werder Bremen are set to offer their Brazilian star Diego a new four-year contract to keep him at the Weser Stadion until 2012. The Bundesliga player of the year will earn 4 million euros per year if he decided to put pen to paper. "The performance of the player has to be taken into consideration when making a contract offer," explained club manager Klaus Allofs. Diego, who is under contract until 2010, has been targeted by several European clubs. He is set to become the second-top highest paid player in the club after Captain Torsten Frings who earns 4.2 millions euros per year.
