Egyptian striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' is on the verge of completing a move from Tottenham Hotspur to Middlesbrough, the Yorkshire club announced on Tuesday. Boro manager Gareth Southgate confirmed that an agreement was reached with Spurs and that Mido's move to the Riverside stadium is only subject to a medical at the club's training ground at Rockliffe Park. "We've agreed a fee with Tottenham and that's enabled us to have Mido up to see us and he's currently in the process of having a medical," Southgate told Boro's official website. "Hopefully if everything goes well we'll have some news in the next 36 hours. "All the talks have been very positive and I don't see the medical being too much of a problem for him." The 24-year old forward has been pleading for a move out of White Hart Lane since he lost his place as a regular in the Spurs starting line-up last season. Mido was on brink of sealing a move to newly-promoted Birmingham City, but his personal demands halted the deal. Sunderland manager Roy Keane also declared interest in the Egyptian, but Keano hinted that his new target will be former Manchester United teammate Andy Cole, who was recently released by Portsmouth.
