David Beckham has no regrets over taking pain-killing injections during his spell with Real Madrid even though it delayed his MLS debut with LA Galaxy.
The England star had three jabs in his left ankle in order to be fit for Real Madrid's Primera Liga finale against Real Mallorca, in which Los Merengues were crowned Spanish champions.
"Maybe it wasn't the right thing to do long-term but I did it and I am glad I did it," Beckham was quoted as saying by The Sun on Wednesday.
"I have never agreed with injections or anything unnatural. I have always preferred to feel naturally fit going into games but we were going for the league title and I'd have done anything to play in that game.
"I played for 65 minutes and we ended up winning the league. It has not done me much good but I did it and that's it."
The 32-year-old has missed Galaxy's past four games and is doubtful for England's friendly against Germany at Wembley on August 22nd.
Galaxy fans were furious with Beckham's no-show, carrying banners hitting out at the former Manchester United right-midfielder.
"David, welcome to America - where people like you get paid to do nothing."
Another banner said: "Bench it like Beckham," according to Daily Mirror.
