Football legend Pele has advised LA Galaxy star David Beckham to focus on football rather than his usual off the pitch glamour. The former England captain has been dominating the headlines in the US after he joined the MLS club from Real Madrid, but an ankle injury has so far prevented Becks from justifying his $250million move. "David Beckham is more of a pop star than a player," said Pele, who had a previous spell in the MLS in the 70s. "From my experience with New York Cosmos, I would advise him to be very well-prepared for the matches. "I know the level of play in the league. It is well-balanced and the spectators will demand a lot from him as their star player. But when there's no training or practice, then he can stroll through Hollywood." Beckham is yet to kick a ball for Galaxy in a competitive match, and he will have a late fitness test to determine whether he would available for the Superliga clash against FC Dallas on Tuesday.
