Birmingham City have cancelled Hossam Ghaly's deal on Friday, few days after confirming that the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder will move to St Andrews. "Birmingham City Football Club can today confirm that they will not be proceeding with the transfer of Hossam Ghaly from Tottenham Hotspur due to footballing reasons," the club said in a statement on their official website. The Premiership newly-promoted club announced on Monday the signing of the Egyptian international midfielder on a three-year deal for £3million ($6million). The deal was subject to the talented player being granted a work permit. However, Birmingham made a U-turn and opted against capturing Ghaly, providing ambiguous explanation for their decision. Birmingham have also failed to agree personal terms with Ghaly's compatriot and team-mate Mido, who was close to making a switch to the Blues. It remains to be seen whether the Egyptian duo could find a new club before the end of the summer transfer window on August 31st.
