Zamalek target Nashat Akram was warned by his Iraqi teammate Saleh Sedir not to choose Zamalek as his destination for next season, a source close to Al-Shabab midfielder said. The source informed FilGoal.com that former Zamalek playmaker Sedir warned his compatriot that he suffered a host of problems during his spell with the Cairo club three seasons ago. Zamalek showed interest in Akram after the 22-year-old decided that he will not extend his stay with Shabab next season. However, the player revealed recently that he is eyeing a move to Europe, and it was reported that newly-promoted Premiership side Sunderland are interested. Qatari duo Al-Sadd and Al-Gharafa in addition to an unnamed UAE club are also interested in Akram's services, in case he fails to seal a European move. After Sedir's warning to Akram, it seems that the latter will favor the Gulf offers rather than join Zamalek if the European option did not work. Akram and Sedir are currently leading the Iraqi team in the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, where they will face Korea Republic in the semi-final on Wednesday.
