Ahli striker Emad Meteb has been banned by the club for ten days and fined EGP 40,000 after he protested furiously to being substituted in Ahli's 3-0 CAF Champions League win over Esperance on Friday. The Egypt international was taken off 15 minutes into the second half, and he appeared to be unhappy with the technical staff's decision. Meteb did not take part in Ahli's training session on Monday, and assistant manager Hossam Al-Badri revealed that he will be banned from training for ten days. The 24-year-old forward has been a key figure in Ahli's local and continental success throughout the last three seasons, but he was frequently substituted in Ahli's recent games. Ahli's decision means that Meteb will be deprived of playing the friendly game against Portuguese giants Benfica on Sunday in the African champions' centenary celebrations.
