Published in FilGoal on 03 - 06 - 2007

France produced a fine performance to beat Ukraine 2-0 at Stade de France on Saturday while Italy grabbed a dull 2-1 win at Faroe Islands to climb second in Group B of the Euro 2008 qualifiers.
Marseille winger Frank Ribery opened the scoring for Les Bleus after 57 minutes, when he skillfully rounded the goalkeeper before slotting home into the empty net.
Nicolas Anelka doubled the lead on 71 minutes in superb fashion after he took on a Ukraine defender before volleying a left-footed strike into Olexandr Shovkovskiy's net.
France reached 15 points to snatch the summit from Ukraine, who slip-down to third on 12 points.
In Faroe, world champions Italy had to thank on-fire Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi who scored twice in the 12th and 48th minutes to give the Azzurri a two-goal cushion, before Rogvi Jacobsen sent the home crowd wild with a 77th minute header.
Italy climbed two places into second spot with 13 points, while minnows Faroe Islands remain pointless at the bottom.
Elsewhere, Poland remained in charge of Group A with a 3-1 win at Azerbaijan, as Portugal and Serbia also cruised to victories against Belgium and Finland respectively.
In Brussels, Manchester United's new recruit Luis Nani gave the visitors a 43rd minute lead, but Moroccan-born defender Marouane Fellaini equalized for Belgium 10 minutes after the break.

Italy beat Faroe Islands 2-1
However, nine minutes later Porto forward Helder Postiga netted the winner for Portugal to secure a vital win.
Portugal remain second with 14 points from seven games, trailing leaders Poland by five points, but the Polish played one more game.
Serbia remained in pursuit with a 2-0 away win at Finland, as they share second spot with the Portuguese.
In Group C, Greece capitalized on Turkey's stumble at Bosnia-Herzegovina, to go top of the group with a 2-0 win over Hungary.
Bundesliga top scorer Theofanis Gekas gave Greece a 16th minute lead, before defender Giorgos Seitaridis ensured an easy win after 29 minutes.
In Bosnia, Turkey were denied twice by the home side after Zlatan Muslimovic and Edin Dzeko's goals cancelled out Hakan Sukur and Sabri Sarioglu's strikes respectively, before Adnan Custovic netted a 90th minute winner.
Greece have 15 points at the top, Turkey are second on 13, while third-placed Bosnia level on 10 points with Norway who thrashed Malta 4-0.
