Neither AC Milan nor Celtic have been able to break the deadlock in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash on Tuesday, making the second-leg at San Siro more decisive. Dutch striker Vennegoor of Hesselink nearly gave the hosts the lead but failed to connect with Shunsuke Nakamura's brilliant free kick which was collected by Milan's keeper Zeljko Kalac after nine minutes. Celtic's Polish keeper Artur Boruc saved the visitors' best chance of the first-half when he showed safe hands to Yoan Gourcuff's header as both teams failed to gain advantage before the interval. It was no difference in the second half, which witnessed very few opportunities. Alberto Gilardino cut inside the Celtic box but Boruc was once again in time keeping a clean sheet in the 74th minute. Five minutes from time, Danish midfielder Thomas Gravesen fired a long range effort that went just wide.
