Zamalek skipper Hazem Emam has quelled rumors surrounding his future after signing a three-year contact extension with the Cairo giants on Sunday. The new deal will keep Emam, whose contract was due to expire at the end of the season, at the club until 2010. "I opted to stay with Zamalek following the arrival of (coach) Henri Michel, whose treatment was the main reason behind my decision," Emam told FilGoal.com. The 30-year-old playmaker was linked with a move to arch-rivals Ahli after becoming increasingly frustrated with lack of first-team football under former Portuguese manager Manuel Cajuda. However, French boss Henri Michel has given the talented player a more advanced role in the team. "I was ready to pen a contract extension a long time ago but Cajuda's actions prompted me to have a rethink."
