AC Milan have completed the signing of Brazilian striker Ronaldo from Real Madrid on an 18-month deal for 7.5 million euros ($9.7 million), the Serie A side announced on Tuesday. Both teams have finally reached an agreement regarding the transfer fee after one million euro set them apart on Monday. Real demanded eight million euros while Milan were willing to offer just seven for the services of the 30-year-old but an accord has been reached on Tuesday. The fee could be increased to eight million in case the Rossoneri qualify to the UEFA Champions League in 2007 or 2008.
After finishing top scorer in the 2002 World Cup, Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Inter Milan but failed to produce the form that saw him named FIFA World Player of the Year three times. Although he won the Primera Liga title in his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu and scored 104 goals during his four-and-a-half year spell with the Spanish giants, the arrival of Italian coach Fabio Capello ended his honeymoon with Real. Capello criticized the Brazilian international for being overweight and ruled him out of his plans and thus he made just three starts in the league this season. Ronaldo joins the rest of foreigners who played for Milan and Inter like Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf, Hernan Crespo and Patrick Vieira. He won with the Brazilian national team two World Cups in 1994 and 2002 and became the tournament's all-time scorer when he notched his 15th goal against Ghana in 2006.
