Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez said that his side's league defeat against Manchester United marked one of his worst days ever as a coach. The Reds came back from Old Trafford with a 2-0 defeat and were trailing joint leaders United and Chelsea with 11 points after just nine games into the season. "It is clearly one of my most disappointing days as manager of the club," The Spaniard said on Liverpool's website. "It is a game I know everybody at the club and the supporters wants us to win, particularly at Old Trafford." Paul Scholes put United ahead on his 500th appearance with Alex Ferguson's side before international defender Rio Ferdinand added the second. But Benitez, who has yet to overcome United in the Premiership, believes Liverpool played a good game but couldn't handle the game when they conceded the first goal. "We had some chances and good possession, but we could not create clear openings. Things were okay until we conceded the first goal," he said. "That changed the game for both sides. We needed to go forward, the game was more open and with their quality it became more difficult for us."
