Mohamed Shawki denied on Sunday that he extended his contract with Ahli, contradicting what club officials announced earlier on the same day. Ahli assistant coach and acting football director Hossam Al-Badri said Shawki and right-back Islam Al-Shater signed three-year deals for undisclosed fees. But the international midfielder told FilGoal.com that he didn't pen any papers. "I am still in talks with Ahli and we haven't reached a final agreement yet," Shawki said after landing in Cairo following Egypt's goalless draw with Botswana on Saturday. Shawki said also that he is keen on a move to Europe in January or in the close season after his current contract with Ahli runs out. The former Masri star stressed that in case a deal was stroke with Ahli, he won't sign the contract unless the club pledged to release him should a serious European offer be tabled. Shawki, who plays as a holding midfielder and sometimes features as a center-back, helped Ahli win the Egyptian title twice and the African Champions League last season. He was pivotal for the Egyptian national team in their campaign towards clinching the African Cup of Nations for the fifth time on home soil earlier this year.
