Atletico Madrid have signed Fernando Torres on a one-year extension that will keep him at the club until 2009, the Spanish club said on Monday. "I had two years left on my contract. After all the uproar this summer I am still here and the club have offered me another year," Marca quoted Torres as saying in a press conference. The 22-year-old international, who rose through the Atletico Madrid youth ranks, was linked with Manchester United and Inter Milan over the summer. Yet, Torres opted to stay with Atletico where feels as the club idol. "I am delighted because I feel valued at the club and this is further proof," he said. "Everything has been agreed and when I return (from international duty) we will look to make it official." Torres has been the Spanish giants leading scorer for four seasons.
