German champions Bayern Munich insisted that they have no intention of selling England midfielder Owen Hargreaves to Manchester United. "FC Bayern has informed the player and his agent in no uncertain terms that the contract with the club until 2010 is to be honored," read a statement on Bayern's official website on Friday. "The club informed Manchester United on this day, Friday August 18, that they must end their advances for Owen Hargreaves." Manchester United boss, Alex Ferguson expressed his desire to lure Hargreaves in order to enforce his midfield ahead of the new season, but Bayern football director Uli Hoeness said that letting the 25-year-old go is out of the question. "You can offer me $60 million for Owen Hargreaves but we will not let him go," Hoeness said. Bayern coach Felix Magath, who already lost Germany superstar Michael Ballack to Chelsea, agreed with Hoeness that he wants to keep Hargreaves at the Bavarian club. "He can climb to the top of Mount Everest and say whatever he wants but a contract with Bayern Munich is a contract," Magath said.
