Milan "declare war" on Real Madrid over Kaka
Published in FilGoal on 26 - 07 - 2006

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani "declared war" on Real Madrid Wednesday in response to the Spanish club's attempts to lure away Brazilian midfielder Kaka.
"For 50 years Real have been the greatest club in the world but now they have thrown all that out the window," Galliani told Spanish newspaper Marca.
"This Real does nothing to honour its history or its name."
During the recent campaign for Real president, the eventually elected Ramon Calderon had promised to bring Kaka to the Bernabeu if given the presidency.
Calderon's public statements ruffled some feathers at AC Milan. Galliani, who in June extended Kaka's contract to 2011, has sworn they will never negotiate with Real Madrid over Kaka.

"Milan declares war on Real -- you can write it like that -- and it will do everything it can to make their life impossible," Galliani said.
"Kaka is not going to leave here, but if he did it would not be to Real. No one from this club will sit down and negotiate with them because what they are doing is not how great clubs work together."
Galliani explained that his fury is not directed at the prestigious club itself, but at its current president.
"I want to clarify that these remarks are against the current Real (management) and not the club that we all know and love."
AC Milan were victorious in their appeal in Italy's match-fixing scandal; they will compete in the Champions League from the third qualifying round next season with only an eight point handicap in their local campaign.
