Bolton Wonderers have completed the signing of Ivorian defender Abdoulaye Meite from French side Marseille, the Premiership club announced on Friday. Meite, who has been with Marseille for the past five seasons, agreed a four-year contract with the Trotters for an undisclosed fee. Bolton boss Sam Allardyce expressed his delight to sign the 25-year-old after a fierce competition with German side Stuttgart who were also chasing Meite's signature. "Abdoulaye is a player we have been tracking for some time, he is young and should adapt to the intensities of the Premiership quickly," Allardyce told the Bolton's official website. Meite was a regular defender for his country in their World Cup campaign in Germany last month, and Allardyce believes that such experience would add a lot to the Bolton defense. "He has all the qualities you would expect from an international footballer that also played in one of France's top teams," Allardyce added. "We're working very hard in bringing new faces to the squad and I'm confident that there'll be more new signings before the season gets underway."
