Holland coach Marco Van Basten admitted that his side suffered in their narrow victory over Serbia in their World Cup opener on Sunday but said he was satisfied with the result. "It was not easy but the most important thing was to start with a win," Van Basten said in the post-match press conference. Arjen Robben slotted home in the 18th minute to give Holland a 1-0 victory over Serbia in the World Cup on Sunday. The victory placed Holland second in Group C on three points behind Argentina who lead on goal difference after their 2-1 win over Ivory Coast. "Robben's strike gave us breathing space although afterwards we still had a few good chances," the Dutch coach said. Chelsea winger Robben said that although he is happy with his display through out the match, he could have done better. "I'm happy with the way I played. I can play even better but, especially in the second-half, it was so hot. The important thing is the three points," he said. On the other hand, Serbia coach Ilija Petkovic rued the defensive mistake that led to Holland's goal. "We make one mistake and were punished for it. It's a real pity. We had our own chances but we couldn't take them but there is still hope for us," he said.
