La sélection de Trinidad et Tobago a réussi d'arracher un point de la Suède en faisant un nul (0-0) au match qui a opposé les deux équipes au groupe B.
Pour son premier match de Coupe du Monde de l'histoire de ce petit état des Caraïbes, le Trinidad et Tobago a réalisé la première surprise de cette coupe du monde.
Malgré les nombreux occasions qu'ils ont tout au long du match, les deux attaquants suèdois Larsson et Ibrahimovic étaient incapables de changer le score vierge de la rencontre.
Réduit à 10 après l'expulsion d'Avery John (46e), le Trindad et Tobago a pu résister face aux expéditions offensives pour s'échapper d'une défaite méritée.
A noter que le gardien de la Suède était l'égypto-suèdois Rami Chabaan.
