Tottenham Hotspur beat 1-0 Bolton Wanderers to tighten their grip on fourth place in the Premiership standings, the last qualifying ticket for next season's UEFA Champions League. Aaron Lennon scored Tottenham's winning goal on the hour-mark to increase their chances of qualifying to the Champions League, on condition that they win their next match against West Ham. The Spurs, who hold fourth spot in the Premiership standings with a tally of 65 points, will also qualify to the UCL if Arsenal lose against Spanish champions Barcelona in this season's Champions League final. Lennon connected with a Michael Carrick low-cross and rounded his way into the Bolton area before scoring Tottenham's only goal in the 60th minute. Bolton, who dominated the pitch throughout the first-half, failed to make use of it with a host of squandered chances to score, the first of which was by Hidetoshi Nakata who sent a volley from 15 yards only to crash into the post. Bolton also saw Stelios Giannakopoulos harshly denied a late penalty after being subject to a rough Dawson challenge, but referee Alan Wiley dismissed the possibility of a spot-kick. With this result, Bolton's hopes of qualification for the Uefa Cup took a huge blow as they need to win their next matches to be able to finish sixth in the Premiership.
