Three Middlesbrough fans were stabbed and injured in Rome ahead of the English side's UEFA Cup clash against Roma, Sky Sports reported on Wednesday. "There was an incident in one of the bars in a square in Rome," Middlesbrough chief executive Keith Lamb said. "Some Boro fans were drinking in a bar and the bar was attacked by some Roma fans. A number of Boro fans have been injured - a small number - and taken to hospital and received medical treatment," he added. The UEFA Cup round of 16 return leg will take place on Wednesday in Stadio Olimpico, the first leg ended in favor of Middlesbrough who won 1-0.
