Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he wished his players could have benefited more from their impressive performance against Real Madrid and scored more than once. "I am happy with our display but I regret not scoring one or two more goals because now the tie is still wide open," Wenger was quoted as saying in Tuesday's post match press conference. "We were the better team. We managed to defend well and attack well and as result we put on a very positive show. "Real will fight at Highbury but we have a very good opportunity (to advance) and I am sure the players will do their best to win." Arsenal edged closer to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals when they beat Real Madrid 1-0 away and registered the first victory ever for an English side at the Bernabeu. Thierry Henry scored the winner just after the break after a brilliant solo effort that saw him outpacing three Real challengers before drilling a left-footer past goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Wenger said he believes that this memorable victory will convince Henry to stay with the Gunners. "I hope the quality we showed tonight persuades Thierry to stay," The French manager said. "I think this victory persuades him that he has a future in the club and that our young players can achieve the results he wants." The French striker, whose contract expires in June 2007, refused to extend deal with Arsenal, opening the door for a move outside the London club. A number of world-class clubs including Barcelona and Juventus expresses interest in signing Henry should he decided to leave Highbury.
