Egypt left-back Sayed Moawad has been ruled out of Ahli's Club World Cup roster after sustaining an injury during the recent 2-1 friendly win against Maghreb FES, the club's website confirmed. Despite coming on as a substitute early in the second half, Moawad was forced off the pitch with a hamstring tear as Ahli doctor Ihab Ali said that the Egypt international is set to face a four-week layoff. The news means that Moawad will miss the Club World Cup, which will take place from 11 till 21 December in Morocco, as Ahli open their campaign against Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande. Newly-signed full-back Sabri Rahil is now expected to provide back-up for Ahmed Shedid at the left-back role. Ahli, who make it five appearances out of nine in the World Cup, take on Guangzhou on December 14.
