ON THIS DAY: First Egyptian abroad

On September 14 1935, Mohamed Latif became the first Egyptian to play in Europe after joining Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers for a short stint.
Having been one of the stars of the team that represented Egypt at the 1934 World Cup, Zamalek legend Latif earned a move to Scotland.
He was brought to Glasgow by then-Egypt coach James McRea, who was the man to guide the Pharaohs to their first-ever World Cup berth.
Latif, who was 26 when he made the move, only featured in a single game for Rangers; a 1-1 draw with Hibs.
