Egypt have been crowned with the African Youth Championship after beating Ghana on penalties in the final. Clinching their fourth title, the Young Pharaohs edged a penalty shootout 5-4 after the match ended in a 1-1 draw in Oran, Algeria. Both goals came from the spot in the opening seven minutes as Ebenezer Arkorful cancelled out Saleh Gomaa's penalty for Egypt. Egypt captain Rami Rabiea missed the first penalty in the shootout but Rabie Yassin's side scored five in a row to win the title after Ahmed Adams and Michael Anaba missed for Ghana. Egypt are now second in the list of champions behind Nigeria, who won the biennial tournament six times. Early action Egypt took the lead after just four minutes when the in-form Mahmoud Abdul-Monem ‘Kahraba' was brought down in the box, allowing Gomaa to convert home with aplomb. But the early advantage only lasted for three minutes as Egypt's Ahmed Samir conceded a silly penalty that was perfectly dispatched by Arkorful. Goalscorer Arkorful was unlucky to see his splendid freekick bounce off the post. Egypt missed the chance of scoring a vital goal before the break when Kahraba and Omar Bassem were thwarted by the keeper in quick succession. Shootout video to follow....
