The situation in Lebanon is volatile and any unexpected moves could jeopardise the security of the country, a Lebanese official said Sunday. "The Lebanese state should be an institutional one controlled by its government in order to evaluate the situations and take proper decisions. The Lebanese government should be the real ruler of the country," said Samir Geagea, the head of the Lebanese Forces Party, after talks in Cairo Sunday with President Hosni Mubarak. He added that the Shi'ite militia of Hizbollah should respect the Lebanese government. "It is illogical that a party inside the state of Lebanon smuggles arms inside its territory without the knowledge of its government," Geagea said. “Although we appreciate the efforts by Hizbollah during wartime, the situation is different nowadays,” he added. Geagea and Mubarak discussed the latest developments in the region and the meeting that the Lebanese-Egyptian Higher Council will hold on Thursday in Beirut. Prime Minister Saad Hariri and his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Nazif will co-chair over the meeting.
