EGYPT'S First Lady Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak has attended a special function on Wednesday in the Red Sea town of al- Gonna, where the Berlin University of Technology and Arts has decided to open one of its worldwide branches. In appreciation of her sincere efforts to promote culture and sciences, as well as her endeavours to improved the quality of education in Egypt, the University bestowed its highest award on Mrs. Mubarak. Mrs. Mubarak has expressed happiness about the university's decision to open one of its branches in al-Gonna, which will be established, staffed and equipped in cooperation with a local private sector company. She paid tribute to the Government's efforts to upgrade education in Egypt through building more schools and improving the whole education system. Upgrading the education system is clearly a top priority, she told the ceremony, which was held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina branch in el-Gonna. Mrs. Mubarak also said that the planned Berlin university branch in el-Gonna would help encourage creativity and innovative thinking among Egyptian students. "It will also turn el-Gonna into a beacon of culture and education in Egypt," she said. Mrs. Mubarak has also inaugurated el- Gonna Nursing School, from which new generations of nursemen and nursewomen will gain the skills they need so that the local health industry can compete effectively in the global marketplace. The school has been provided with advanced facilities to enhance nursing education opportunities for students in Hurghada governorate. It has been equipped with advanced training equipment and machines to enhance the training experience of students.
