The Egyptian girls have qualified for the Singapore Olympics 2010, which kicks off this summer, after bagging 30 gold medals in the African Weightlifting Championship in Cairo Tuesday night, as expected. Alaa Yasser Zaki won three golds and broke three records in the 44kg category; Amal Mohamed Mahmoud bagged three medals in the 58kg category and broke three records; Israa Mohamed Fahmi snatched three golds in the 69kg category; and Basma Emad Gouda collected three golds in the 53kg category. Meanwhile, Donia Mohamed Abdel-Rahman picked up three golds in the 58kg category; Shaimaa Mohamed got three golds in the 63kg category; Amani Youssri Hamed plundered three golds in the 69kg category; and Abeer Abdel-Rahman and Shaimaa Ahmed each snatched three golds in the 75kg category. Three silvers went to Egypt's Lamyaa Abul Hassan in the 48kg category, while Shaimaa Gamal won three bronzes in the 58kg category. In the meantime, Egypt compete today in the African Shooting Championship in Algeria, which also serves as a qualifier for the Singapore Olympics. The event includes South Africa, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco and Cameroon.
