Borussia Dortmund's striker Mohamed Zidan said on Sunday he was aware that several high-profile European sides were keeping tabs on him. The Egyptian international produced a match-winning performance to give Dortmund a 3-0 home victory over Monchengladbach in the German Bundesliga Saturday night. He created the opener for Kevin Grosskreutz before scoring twice himself to take his tally to five league goals this season. Zidan was also Egypt's liveliest performer in the 3-1 friendly defeat by England at Wembley Wednesday night, giving the Pharaohs a first-half lead with a clinical finish. “I know that there are prominent European clubs who are interested in signing me, especially after the England game,” Zidan said in an interview with privately owned TV station Modern Sport. “It's a dream for me, my family and my country to become the first Arab player to play in a leading European team. “My agent told me that I had a big chance of joining a high-profile club, which is why I did my best to prove myself against Monchengladbach.” English side Arsenal have been mooted as possible suitors for the 28-year-older, although they have not confirmed whether they are really interested in bringing him to the Emirates Stadium. However, he said he dreamed of playing for a team of the Gunners' calibre. “I love the way they play. Joining them would be a dream come true,” Zidan, who was a valuable member of the Egyptian side who won the African Cup of Nations in January, added. Dortmund are fifth in the table on 42 points, one behind fourth-placed Hamburg. Zidan was Dortmund's liveliest performer throughout the game, with his tenacity and pace causing Monchengladbach all sorts of problems. He needed 13 minutes to help Dortmund grab the lead when he outpaced his challenger down the left flank, before providing a low cross for Kevin Grosskreutz to tap in into an empty net after the ball eluded keeper Logan Bailly. Zidan wrapped up Dortmund's victory on 70 minutes with a clinical finish, after latching onto a defence-splitting pass from Barrios. Additional reporting from FilGoal.com
