Italian Serie A side Genoa have expressed an interest in signing Emad Met'eb next summer, the Ahly's striker said Wednesday night. "Genoa are one of two clubs interested in signing me," Met'eb said in an interview with private Egyptian TV channel Al-Hayat. "Turkish side Kayserispor [where fellow Egyptian Mohamed Shawqi plays] are also interested, but I'm not so excited about the prospect of playing in the Turkish league. My ambitions are bigger, I want to play in a top European league." Met'eb's only adventure abroad was in Saudi Arabia as he spent last season on loan at Ittihad Jeddah, scoring 13 goals in all competitions. Met'eb, whose contract with Al-Ahly expires at the end of the season, said he had a chance to move to the English Premier League before the closure of the January transfer window, but the club opted to keep hold of him. "Fulham and Portsmouth wanted to sign me on loan until the end of the season. However, Al-Ahly rejected their offers because they were not financially rewarding. "Al-Ahly also bore in mind that I could leave for free at the end of the season, so any loan deal would not have benefited them,” he explained. Met'eb was part of Egypt's 2010 African Cup of Nations winning squad, scoring two goals. He missed Al-Ahly's 2-0 Egyptian Premier League defeat to Ghazl El-Mahalla last Monday due to a hamstring injury. "I will miss the next game against Police Union [today], but I hope to play against Harras Al-Hodoud on February 18."
